This is a high-octane, 30-piece concert band, formed in 2024. It's a reading band, with no plans to perform. It meets monthly, on Sunday afternoons. Repertoire is mostly challenging transcriptions of great symphonic music. No pop, rock, soundtrack, Sondheim, Lloyd-Webber.
Instrumentation: 3 flutes, 6 clarinets, bass clarinet, 2 oboes, 2 bassoons. 4 trumpets, 4 horns, 3 trombones, euphonium, tuba. 3 percussion. No Eb clarinet, no alto clarinet. No saxes except where used in the original orchestration. No strings.
There will not be 'band members.' Personnel will vary from session to session. Thus a commitment to play a session is not a commitment to other sessions. Sort of like Awesome Orchestra in that regard, but limited to 30 musicians for each session.
TBA: Time, place, and conductor. Anyone who can find a gratis venue for the first session will be held in high regard.
The music library is all online, at bandmusicpdf.org
